Stibbe advises Mitiska REIM on major portfolio acquisition of seven shopping centres throughout Belgium
Stibbe advised Mitiska REIM, the leading specialist investor in European convenience real estate, on its strategic acquisition of various entities owning seven shopping centres featuring retail stores and Cora hypermarkets in Brussels and the Walloon Region.
The transaction was executed on behalf of Mitiska's MEREP 3 fund in partnership with a dedicated co-investment vehicle.
The acquisition encompasses strategically located retail shopping centres in Anderlecht, Woluwe, Rocourt, Hornu, La Louvière, Châtelineau, and Messancy. Mitiska REIM's vision involves comprehensive redevelopment of each site into contemporary, sustainable grocery-anchored retail centres tailored to meet the needs of shoppers, tenants, and local communities.
The ambitious redevelopment programme will reimagine the existing hypermarket footprints, creating multiple contemporary retail units. These spaces will house leading retail brands alongside a comprehensive supermarket offering. The first redeveloped stores are scheduled to open in late January 2026.
Stibbe provided comprehensive legal support throughout the transaction, encompassing due diligence, contract negotiations, employment law matters, financing arrangements, and all legal aspects relating to the planned redevelopment programme.
