Olivier Di Giacomo

Having joined our Brussels office in 2007, Olivier utilises both academic and practical experience in creating effective solutions for his clients.

Olivier is particularly active in the various fields of administrative law, with a focus on handling complex matters in urban zoning & planning and public procurement. He also acts on myriad issues regarding construction law.

Oliver has a degree in European law from the University of Ghent (UGent) together with a degree in public construction law and environmental law from the Saint-Louis University (USL-B).

Olivier has also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Brussels (ULB). He obtained the Prix Ganshof van der Meersch, rewarding students from the law faculty for the outstanding quality of their work in the fields of public law during studies.

Articles - Par un arrêt du 12 juin 2019, la Cour de Justice de l’Union européenne a considéré qu’un arrêté bruxellois qui fixe une zone spéciale de conservation (Natura 2000) est bien un plan ou un programme, mais qui n’est pas nécessairement soumis à une évaluation des incidences sur l’environnement. Au détour de cet arrêt, elle a confirmé certains enseignements de sa jurisprudence antérieure.

Belgium's Energy & Climate Plan - What is the legislative framework for climate policy in Belgium?

Articles - On 19 December 2018, Belgium adopted the first version of the National Energy & Climate Plan, which is a compilation of three individual climate plans from each of Belgium’s regions. It contains specific measures aiming to reduce CO2 emissions in Belgium by 35% by 2030 and to increase the share of renewable energy to 18.3%. The Plan will be submitted to the European Commission and, at the same time, presented to the population, stakeholders, parliaments, and neighboring countries.
