Stibbe successfully defended a UK company facing allegations of IT forgery, IT fraud, and online defamation. Central to the case was a key jurisdictional question: when can an alleged online offence be deemed to have been committed in Belgium, and is the mere presence of the alleged victim in Belgium always sufficient? The court unequivocally endorsed our position that, in this matter, it was not — bringing the proceedings to an end.
