Roderik Vrolijk specialises in financial regulation, focusing in particular on fintech and innovation in the financial sector. His expertise includes advising clients on market access queries, licence applications, product launches, and their dealings with the Dutch and European financial regulators.
Roderik advises a wide range of Dutch and international financial institutions and service providers. His clients include banks, insurers, asset managers and fintechs, such as payment services providers, e-money institutions, consumer credit providers and crypto services providers.
He is also a member of Stibbe’s Tech Group, representing clients in the technology sector with a particular focus on the fintech sector. In this capacity, he advises on the financial regulatory aspects of technology-driven business models, including compliance with financial regulatory frameworks, licensing requirements, and the deployment of novel financial products and services.
Roderik is an active member of the Dutch Association for Securities Law and chief editor of the Dutch Financial Law Review. Roderik furthermore teaches a course on fintech as part of the postgraduate specialisation programme of the Grotius Academy, and a course on the Digital Operational Resilience Act as part of the University of Amsterdam’s Banking & Insurance postgraduate programme.
Roderik has a Master of Law from Utrecht University (2008, cum laude).
