Koen specialises in corporate litigation and advice, with a focus on governance disputes and directors' liability.

He regularly represents companies, shareholders, and (executive and non-executive) directors in corporate litigation matters, including proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. His area of expertise also includes the law of cooperatives, associations and foundations.

Koen holds a PhD from VU University Amsterdam for a thesis on directors' duties. He is a lecturer in corporate law at VU University Amsterdam and at The Law Firm School. Before this, Koen studied in London, Barcelona and Amsterdam, and was a visiting fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg.

Koen has written numerous articles and case commentaries on corporate law. He is a member of the editorial board of the corporate law journal Maandblad voor Ondernemingsrecht and a fellow at the Zuidas Institute for Corporate Law and Financial Law.
