He advises and represents companies, shareholders, and executive and non-executive directors in complex corporate disputes, including proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. His practice encompasses shareholder disputes, boardroom and governance conflicts, inquiry proceedings, and liability matters. He also has particular expertise in the law of cooperatives, associations, and foundations.
Koen holds a doctorate from VU University Amsterdam for his thesis on directors' duties. He is Professor of Corporate Law at the same university, where he teaches and supervises research in corporate law and corporate governance.
He publishes regularly on corporate law and governance, including numerous articles and case commentaries. He is a board member of the Royal Society for Commercial Law (Koninklijke Vereeniging “Handelsrecht”), a member of the editorial board of Maandblad voor Ondernemingsrecht, and a fellow of the Zuidas Institute for Corporate Law and Financial Law.
