Stibbe advises Aquafin

Stibbe successfully assisted Aquafin with the entire procurement and contracting process for the development of a new sludge treatment installation (mono-processing plant / "SMV" project).

More particularly, we provided our client with legal advice on the procurement and contracting in view of the realisation and operation of a mono-processing plant for sludge (derived from the treatment of domestic waste water) for a predefined period of 20 years. The project will be realised through an integrated form of contract, being a DBFMO contract.

This project – one of Aquafin’s largest investments ever – was awarded to a consortium of Besix-Indaver and is sustainable because it ultimately aims to recover phosphorus. Furthermore, we are assisting Aquafin in all contracts with Arcelor, now that the "SMV" is being built on Arcelor's site in the port of Ghent.
