Stibbe Amsterdam has a new board as of 1 January. With the appointments of Hans Witteveen and Anna Collignon, Stibbe’s executive board now consists of Hans Witteveen (Managing Partner), Anna Collignon, Michael Molenaars and Cécile Schobben (COO). David Orobio de Castro and Job van Hooff retire from the board after six and two years respectively, and will continue their practices within Stibbe Amsterdam.

Hans Witteveen succeeds David Orobio de Castro as Managing Partner. He is part of Stibbe’s M&A group and is a specialist in corporate law, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate finance transactions. Hans has been working at Stibbe since 1994 and has been partner since 2001. After practicing for several years in Amsterdam, and nine years in New York, he led the Stibbe London office until his appointment as Managing Partner.

Anna Collignon joins as board member. She is partner in Amsterdam and leads the Environment & Planning practice. She is a specialist in the complex areas of environment and enforcement law, and advises leading companies in the energy and industrial/chemical sectors. Anna joined Stibbe in 2005 and has been partner since 2017.  She has also gained international experience in Brussels and London. In addition to her work for clients, she lectures on environmental law at the Judicial Study Center and annotates for the Dutch Journal of Environmental Law.

David Orobio de Castro: “Needless to say, the past two years have confronted our organisation, like many others, with challenges we did not foresee when our board was appointed on 1 January, 2020. Under these circumstances, our organisation and our people have shown resilience. Stibbe has done very well, and is on course for the coming years. This makes me exceptionally proud.
I am pleased to pass on the leadership of our firm, and I have great confidence in Hans, Anna, Michael and Cécile and wish them best of luck in the years to come.“

Hans Witteveen: “I am proud to take over Stibbe’s leadership from David. I would like to thank him and Job for their dedication and the great contribution they have made. There is no doubt that they have strengthened Stibbe’s position as a go-to firm for high-end complex legal advice. I look forward to working with Anna, Michael, Cécile and all our colleagues on the further growth of our organisation and to strengthen our position as a leading BeNeLux firm.”
