Stibbe advises leading Belgian bank

BE Law

Stibbe assisted a leading Belgian bank with a number of highly complex and sensitive litigation cases about the sale of Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs) to corporate and private clients during the period 2005-2007.

These cases are particularly important as they have a high precedent value for similar CDO-related cases and for other litigations related to the fall-out from the financial crisis. In two landmark judgments rendered in early 2011, the court dismissed all damage claims pursued by two separate companies. These decisions were followed by four other favourable decisions handed down by different commercial courts in Belgium.
