At the beginning of this year, the social and legal discussion on platform labour erupted in the Netherlands. On 23 November Stibbe Amsterdam will host a debate night on this topic.
The main discussion points about platform labour are:
- Can a platform worker also be an individual contractor (particularly in view of the plans in the Government Agreement)?
- If not, what opportunities do platform workers have regarding insurance and Collective Agreements? Is there a need for an intermediate category?
- If the platform worker has an employment contract, with whom does he have this contract and what are the consequences of this agreement?
During the evening, there will be an interactive panel discussion involving Vincent Hosman (Foodora), Stijn Arntz (Temper), Mariëtte Patijn (FNV), Rein Wesseling (competition lawyer at Stibbe and professor of competition and regulation), and Johan Zwemmer (employment lawyer at Stibbe) Jaap van Slooten, employment lawyer at Stibbe and professor of employment law, will lead the debate.
