Het fundamentele beginsel dat verdachten in vertrouwen met hun advocaat moeten kunnen spreken, gewaarborgd door het verschoningsrecht van de advocaat, is de afgelopen jaren behoorlijk onder vuur komen te liggen. Door het Openbaar Ministerie wordt zowel in als buiten de rechtszaal betoogd dat het verschoningsrecht te veelomvattend zou zijn, hetgeen de opsporing zou frustreren en zelfs misbruik in de hand zou werken.

In een vaste column voor Bijzonder Strafrecht beschrijven advocaten Muriël Rosing en Jakoline Winkels een voorbeeld waarin de reikwijdte van het verschoningsrecht tot en met de Hoge Raad is uitgevochten.

Objective indicator high-risk third countries repealed as of 18 October 2019

Short Reads - The Implementation Decree for the Wwft 2018 has been amended. As a result, as of 18 October 2019 institutions subject to the Dutch Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act will no longer have to report transactions solely on the basis that this transaction relates to an individual residing, or a legal entity having its registered office in, a high-risk third country.
