Stibbe represented an aviation client before a Belgian criminal court in a liability case relating to the fire in a hangar at the Belgian National Airport.

In this case, an 8000 m² hangar, three Airbuses A320, and one of the Belgian army’s C130 Hercules aircraft all burned out. This case dealt with extremely complex liability issues (with several parties seeking damages from the other parties) and involved a staggering sum of damages being sought for the destroyed planes and the hangar. Our client was acquitted.
