To mark Equal Pay Day, we are publishing the e-book 'Equal pay for women and men. The most important reporting obligations at European level'.

This e-book is a follow-up to the e-book ‘Equal pay between women and men. The most important legislative initiatives at European and national level’ we published earlier this year.

Although the right to equal pay for men and women has long been enshrined in anti-discrimination law, there is still a difference that cannot be justified or explained by objective factors, such as relevant work experience or education.

This second e-book deals with the obligation for undertakings to justify externally the difference in pay between women and men. The e-book also discusses the new obligations for undertakings to publish the gender pay gap in their annual report and the policy they are pursuing in this area.

These obligations ensue from the European Commission’s Proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) that will be laid down under the CRSD. The CSRD and the ESRS explicitly focus on the theme of equal pay.
