Astrid Helstone & Roos Elemans nominated for Legal Woman 2019

Legal Women, the platform for female lawyers, has nominated Astrid Helstone and Roos Elemans for Legal Woman of the Year and Upcoming Talent 2019 respectively.

Together with seven and four other female lawyers in their respective categories, Astrid Helstone and Roos Elemans have a chance to win these highly prestigious titles. In both categories, the three nominees with the most votes will advance to the final on 28 November 2019. The final winner will then be chosen by jury.

Astrid Helstone - Legal Woman 2019

Astrid is a partner in the EPI practice group and is a specialist in the field of employment law and remuneration. Astrid advises and litigates in individual and collective labour law cases, including restructuring, dismissal of directors, and disputes with Dutch and European works councils. In addition to her work as a lawyer, Astrid shows great social commitment and believes that anyone who holds a socially relevant or important position acts as a role model. She was a member of the board of the test case fund Clara Wichmann, the organisation that strives for a better social and legal position for women in the Netherlands. She is currently a member of the board of Amsterdam Sinfonietta string orchestra and a member of the supervisory board of the Holland Festival. At Stibbe, Astrid held a board position for two years, in addition to her practice as a lawyer. She is now a member of three internal committees, including the diversity and inclusiveness committee. As a member of this committee, Astrid is committed to exposing unconscious prejudices and showing that we all have a joint responsibility to make everyone feel at home.

Roos Elemans - Upcoming Talent 2019

Roos has been working as a lawyer at Stibbe since March 2016. She works in the international competition practice, where she specialises in assisting clients under investigation by regulators in connection with alleged infringements of competition law. Roos combines this with her work advising clients in civil proceedings (including mass claims) arising from such alleged infringements. Roos is a great talent and a highly promising lawyer in the field of competition law and related civil law proceedings.

Adopting the new Standard Contractual Clauses to secure international personal data transfers

Short Reads - Recently, the European Commission issued an implementing decision on standard new contractual clauses (“SCCs”) for the transfer of personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area. Organisations need to use the new SCCs from 27 September 2021 and onwards. Transitional periods apply for existing international data transfer agreements.
