Stibbe represented the director and sole shareholder of the Royal Brinkers group of companies in a insolvency litigation matter. In 2010, the majority of entities within the Royal Brinkers group went bankrupt as a result of changed market conditions.

The bankruptcy trustee, however, argued that the bankruptcy was caused by improper management and held the director accountable for the deficit in the bankruptcy estate. In its judgment dated 18 August 2015, the Court of Appeal of The Hague rejected the bankruptcy trustee's claims in full.
