Cybercrime

The digital revolution has not only created new possibilities that affect our everyday lives, routines and communication, it has also led to a whole new category of crime: cybercrime.

This has forced us to rethink the way we protect ourselves, our information and the information of the people we work with professionally. As our inter-connected society becomes increasingly information-driven, safeguarding our digital world is essential. The borderless nature of the internet and accompanying communication and services means that national and international legal frameworks are more important than ever before.

Here at Stibbe we have a team of experts constantly monitoring national and international developments in both case law and legislation in this rapidly changing area of law. We have the technical knowledge to help individuals and companies in matters relating to cybercrime, cybersecurity and data protection.

Our Criminal Law and IP / TMT teams work together to provide specialist advice to clients on a range of issues including compliance issues and reporting duties in cases of data breaches, how to deal with investigations by regulatory or law enforcement authorities, dawn raids and damage limitation.

We have experience representing clients during interviews with the police and in criminal proceedings all the way up to the Supreme Court. As skilled negotiators, we can assist in discussions with governmental bodies such as the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

We can also arrange in-house training on cybercrime and cybersecurity topics.
