Climate Change and Emissions Trading

We are Stibbe Climate Change and Emissions Trading specialists

We advise companies on their legal and administrative obligations arising from emissions trading, providing the pragmatic advice they need to make challenging decisions.

Climate Change and Emissions Trading

While the trade in emission allowances is considered to be an efficient way to achieve the Kyoto targets and combat climate change, it has a huge impact on the companies involved. We provide these companies with advice on their legal and administrative obligations arising from emissions trading regulations.

We are one of the leading advisors in the trade of emission allowances, with a team of specialists providing full legal assistance in all related areas of law. We provide advice on the civil, commercial, administrative and tax aspects of emissions trading, with a focus on inter-company trading.

Matters we act on include the allocation of emission allowances and advice regarding the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation  (JI).

The team also advises on air quality, environmental quality standards, national emissions ceilings, carbon capture and storage and innovative technologies.

Furthermore, we are regularly asked to contribute to seminars and ministerial working groups.

De harmonisering van milieuzones
