Stibbe assists Storm with the development and financing of two large-scale battery parks in Belgium
Stibbe assisted Storm throughout all development stages and up to financial close on 24 March 2026 of a €330 million equity and debt financing for the development of two large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Ruien (Kluisbergen) and Langerlo (Genk), Belgium.
The Ruien site will deliver 200 MW of capacity with 800 MWh of storage, while the Langerlo site will provide 100 MW with 400 MWh of storage. Together, these projects will nearly double the size of Belgium’s large-scale battery infrastructure.
Stibbe advised on, among other matters, the equity capital raise, the debt financing, project documentation, as well as the energy, permitting, construction and real estate aspects of the transaction.
Construction already started at both locations.
