Nynke is an expert in cybersecurity and data protection, and has specific knowledge in the field of cyber insurance. She regularly provides incident response services after cyber incidents, such as ransomware attacks.
Nynke has been a lawyer since 2011, specializing in cybersecurity and data protection, and has specific knowledge in the field of cyber insurance. Among other things, she led a dedicated Cybersecurity Team that advised clients on cybersecurity and cyberattack response services’. She furthermore has extensive experience with advising and litigating for a wide range of clients, including insurers and brokers, healthcare institutions and governments.
Nynke’s academic credentials include a Master of Laws in civil law from Radboud University in Nijmegen in 2011. In 2021, she received her PhD from Radboud University for her dissertation 'A Legal Perspective on Cyber Insurance' (in Dutch: 'De cyberverzekering vanuit civielrechtelijk perspectief'), which was published by Wolters Kluwer. Nynke wrote her dissertation as an external PhD candidate in four years, alongside her work as a lawyer. At the moment, she is still a research fellow at the Radboud Business Law Institute.
In 2021, Nynke was awarded the title of Legal Woman of the Year (www.legalwomen.nl).
As an ancillary position, Nynke is chair of the Technical Committee Cyber, which is part of the Dutch Insurance Exchange Association (VNAB).
Nynke has written numerous research papers and case commentaries on cyber insurance, cyber security and data protection. She is also a lecturer for the post-academic Grotius Privacy Law specialisation course and a member of the editorial board of the Dutch-Belgian journal Computerrecht.
