Stibbe's TMT partner, Erik Valgaeren, chairs a session discussing the new legal challenges, created by the most recent technological developments in the field of software, data, online services and telecom, including 5G, pricing algorithms, platforms and data monetization. This session will take place on the 8th of November 2019 in Berlin.

The central theme of this year's IBA Technology Law Conference is 'breaking down walls and embracing transformation - 30 years of technology law' and includes topics like GDPR & other national data protection laws, legal tech, blockchain in the FinTech industry, Cybercrime, e-health and quantum computing.

The conference takes symbolically place on the 30th anniversary of the fall of of the Berlin Wall and brings together leading practitioners, regulators and private organsiations from around the globe.

Adopting the new Standard Contractual Clauses to secure international personal data transfers

Short Reads - On 15 June 2021, the CJEU delivered an important judgment on the one-stop-shop mechanism. While the CJEU reinforced that the lead supervisory authority is the sole interlocutor in cross-border processing operations, it also contributed to the effective enforcement of the GDPR by reiterating the conditions under which supervisory authorities other than the lead supervisory authority can bring enforcement actions against such processing operations.
