Gertjan specialises in high-level and complex commercial litigation. His practice covers a wide range of areas, including contracts, insolvency, anti-trust related liability, product liability and banking & finance.

In 1997, Gertjan published his Ph.D thesis on insolvency law. He also wrote numerous articles on insolvency and civil law issues and he frequently gives lectures to other members of the legal profession. From 1997 to 2008 he was member of the editorial board of the law journal 'Maandblad voor Vermogensrecht'.
