Marthe Schönau

Marthe specialises in commercial and corporate litigation and arbitration, creating close partnerships with her clients in every case.

She has acted in a broad spectrum of cases comprising shareholders disputes, director's and product liability and disputes regarding mergers and acquisitions. Her experience includes assisting clients before the state courts, but also in arbitration cases. Recently, her focus has extended to financial reporting law advising clients on several issues including auditor's liability.

Marthe holds a Master's of Law in private law (Privaatrechtelijke Rechtspraktijk) and a bachelor in Spanish language and culture from the University of Amsterdam (2009). She has also attended the Stibbe MBA Highlights programme (2013).

Marthe was seconded to a leading law firm in Spain in 2014 where she assisted in the arbitration and litigation department and was involved in matters of investment arbitration under the Energy Charter Treaty and follow-on civil litigation.

She has been the editorial secretary for the Dutch Journal of Financial Reporting Law (Tijdschrift voor Jaarrekeningenrecht) since December 2013 and has memberships with Vereeniging Handelsrecht, Vereniging Jaarrekeningenrecht, Vereniging voor Corporate Litigation and the Dutch Arbitration Association.
