In Belgium, CITYnvest organises three different workshops relevant for the three regions as part of the Horizon2020 CITYnvest project. The aim is to bring together key figures to discuss the challenges of funding models oriented towards energy efficiency in buildings. Today, the Flemish workshop ("Lokale energie efficiëntie investeringsmodellen") takes place.
During the workshop, two main pillars will be discussed via round table discussions. Besides the plenary part on concrete local examples of financing models for energy efficiency, direct discussions in smaller groups will take place. One group will focus on how a local authority can practically get started with a guaranteed savings model, collaborating with ESCOs under EPC contracts. Wouter Geldhof participates as legal expert at this discussion. The second group will dig into the world of citizen-based financing models and will discuss how to actively get citizens engaged in energy efficiency investment projects.
